I'm a blockchain engineer, and I've spent the last several years working on Polkadot — at the layer where cryptographic identity and on-chain reputation stop being whiteboard abstractions and become code that real users have to trust. I began on the developer-support team at Parity Technologies, where I helped create the Polkadot StackExchange and became one of its top-five all-time contributors — a vantage point that meant fielding the same questions thousands of builders were actually stuck on, day after day — and wrote official SDK tutorials, reference guides, and documentation.
I went on to co-found R0GUE, backed by a Web3 Foundation Decentralized Futures grant and roughly $587,000 from the Polkadot Treasury. Through R0GUE I led the acquisition of the ink! smart-contract language from Parity, taking stewardship of one of the ecosystem's core developer tools. Along the way I wrote the Polkadot Cookbook, a hands-on resource for builders, graduated from the Polkadot Blockchain Academy, and spoke at conferences across the United States, Europe, and Asia. Today I work in developer relations for Polkadot, writing the tutorials and documentation that onboard the next wave of builders.
That background is also the reason this book exists. I kept watching a field that talks endlessly about decentralized identity and verifiable reputation fail to connect those tools to the place they were most desperately needed: the open communities where spam had quietly turned into industrial-scale fraud. I wrote it because the people fighting fraud and the people building the identity layer are having two separate conversations — and the whole argument here is that they're the same conversation, and that recognizing it is how the scam economy we know today finally goes extinct.
